Bionic Replacement Glass?

maybe see about getting a damaged phone that has good glass for cheap.

also if you know the dimensions of the glass, you might be able to go to your local glass shop and have them cut you a piece. They probably wont have gorilla glass/chemically tempered glass, but they would likely have normal heat tempered glass. I dont know if you could run into any trouble using a different type of glass, but it might be worth a try.

It would be nice if there was gorilla glass like the Razr...i can't imagine why it won't be available in the near future. Maybe I'm just setting my hopes up high. :(

My Bionic is about a month old and fell out of the case (that was bought in the package deal) when I was turning the corner it crashed onto a garage floor. Since it hit the corner of the phone the glass broke. This is poor design, the phone should come with a rubber case to protect the corners. Also I question the Magnetic case!! So what is the bottom line. Can I replace the glass. Does it change the integrity of the phone to do this. Has anyone done it??

Hey /titaniumdroid-2847/,,

Thanks for this information. Is this is a real motorola part? Have you done this before? What tools are needed-- a torex screw driver very small,,size? and what else?? Where do I get these tools. I read somewhere else that these are hard to find and not at Radio shack.

Any other pointers.

I am in a quandary over what to do with this Brand new Droid.. In other words I don't want to buy this glass and then mess it up more.

I appreciate your assistance.

Have a great day

I havent done this on the bionic but have on the droid X.

cnn.cn uses OEM parts and not knock offs. I bought many things from them for previous devices.

For the replacement, for the bionic, you wil need a T5 torx screw driver. You can buy that sears or home depot and pick up a precision driver kit.

Also will need something thin to pry apart the case since its snapped together. A plastic tool, cnn.cn sells also to snap apart the case or a plastic razor blade will work too. You can buy those at autozone or advance autoparts in their repair section for body work.

Just take your time with it, theirs lots of vids on youtube that shows the disasembly of the device.

Lastly, be extra careful with removal of old digitizer, main frame housing has adhesive tape, which can be reused, just be slow on pulling it off for reuse on new digitizer.

Good luck.
