hi,
does anyone know when mototola plans to update the bionic with that update supposidly due out november?

It will probably be November. No one knows for sure but 893 has been running well for folks and the latest ota in test seems to have LTE improvements. If all goes well I would expect a push at some point. But right now this is all speculation.

I hope the update is coming soon. Because the issues just seem to be mounting up at this point and it's getting kind of frustrating.

Running 893 and I can verify signal is stronger and data drop/switching antenna issue seems fixed, tho I rarely even had that problem before. Also have never had any other issues so I don't know what else you're experiencing but some other people running it say it improved their overall stability, so there you go. I can say the vanishing apps issue when they are in media area is Not fixed in my experience so I still have to make sure they stay out of there.

As for public release yes people are saying November but can't tell you for sure. Moto needs to finish tests then VZ takes a turn.

Well as for me, I definitley have the data drop/switching issue. I also have the black screen of death requiring battery pull issue, and now I seem to have a phone dock app freeze issue requiring restart almost every night.

Where do i find if im running 893?
Also im guessing thia bionic is just a nice a phone as the razor.. just may not be as "sleek"lookin..hardware wise same power a littke faster i guess but woldnt be noticeable..?

I am on 875 and have no issues at all. I'm not sure why so many people are having problems.

Unless you specifically hunted down the update, you're not running 893. It hasn't been pushed out official channels yet.

Look under..
settings: about phone:system version.
The 983 would be the last three digits.
Google it and you can find and download it if you want it now (use at own risk)

I've noticed some improvements, but not the level one would expect with an update. So, I'm NOT sure I'm really seeing better things or imagining it. The update will not remain a secret once it is realeased.

The .893 update flashes in a new radio as well as an improved kernel. It should be a substantial improvement once it officially lands.

I really hope this update fixes this phone....i'm to the point where verizon is now just sending me new phones.

I've experienced just about every issue imaginable with this phone :(

My Bionic starting doing the "no 3G/4G/data" dance last night. It decide to do it all morning until I called tech support. Today is my final day of my two week return, or I'm stuck. Should I swap the Bionic out for something else?

Thoughts?

If you haven't had any problems in 2 weeks until last night and you're otherwise happy with it, then I wouldn't return it. What did tech support do for you? How's it working now? Do you know that it was just your phone, or maybe the network in your area was just in a funk for a bit?

Per Matt (Forums Manager) just today:

"I know everyone is eager for updated software. We have been working diligently on a software update for DROID BIONIC and have a version in the testing stage; we expect to deliver it to users in 30 to 60 days. The update is targeting issues identified through owner feedback and we?re confident it will improve device performance."

Not good news & the Moto Forum members are NOT happy.

Motorola is once again changing a release date for something? I am shocked!

Hey guys. My Bionic is rooted with bloat frozen. If i use the leaked 893 for now, when the official OTA hits can i still receive it?

What I would do is unfreeze my bloat and unroot my phone, get the update, and then re-root. Can I do this after using the leaked 893? or no?
