Bionic Wi-Fi Connection Troubles

I am having a problem of being able to connect via Wi-Fi but not being able to connect to the Internet.

I DO have Wi-Fi working on my Home Router, but I can't get it to work anywhere else, like Wi-Fi cafes or friend's homes.
In Wi-Fi settings I have Wi-Fi, Open network and Secure network checked.
When I go to the Advanced Settings, I have Peer to peer (Ad-hoc) channel set to Channel 1 (what does this mean?)
Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to Never
My MAC address is c8:aa:21:1a:ff:6c (don't know how that got there)
Enable Auto IP is checked

What do I need to change to get this working?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: Bionic Wi-Fi Connection Trouples

I had the same issue with my first Bionic after 7 days. Went through phone tech service and after about an hour of trying different options they told me they would mark my file for a new replacement phone and should go t a store for immediate replacement or they would overnight one to me, my choice. I went to the Verizonwireless store a few blocks away and after about 20 minutes of checking my file and transferring my files I walked out with a new phone that has work perfectly for the 3 weeks I have had it so far. From my experience the phone call to tech support is one efficient and quick way to resolve the issue.

Thanks for your response Cataloochee! I have called Tech Support about the problem the very first time it happened. I happened to be on vacation in Mazatlan (from Washington State) at the time and had a very poor phone connection. Basically I was told the problem was on my end and that the Router was my problem. It happened at every Wi-Fi location I encountered on the trip to Mazatlan. There was NO mention of a replacement phone. I just assumed I had an incorrect setting and someone with more knowledge than I would know what I needed to change.

Thanks again for your response.

I would uncheck the "enable auto IP" box, toggle wifi off and on, and try to connect again.

I don't currently have wifi on but my MAC address is blank. I wonder if some wonky MAC address got in there that is goofing things up.

I just toggled Wi-Fi off and rebooted. The MAC address was then 'unknown'. I then toggled Wi-Fi back on and reconnected to my home Wi-Fi (which works, just NOT others) and the same MAC address is back. In checking my router, the MAC address is correct.

I've uncheck the enable auto IP box, but now need to get to a Wi-Fi spot to see if it works. I'm 95% sure I tried that in Mexico, but I'll give it another try as soon as I can get out of the house.

Thanks for trying to help me!

No problem. Not sure why it would connect to your home router but not to others.

It has me baffled too. I've read that others are having this problem too, but so far there aren't any answers that have worked. I'll keep hoping!

I am having this issue as well, just backwards though. I am able to connect to other wifi networks but my home one is "disabled" on my bionic. boo

*EDIT* Fixed. Somehow my AutoIP got turned off. Just went to WiFi settings-->Advanced-->Enable Auto IP. I feel like a dummy. I should've checked that first

Hmm I have that unchecked and mine connects to my home wifi with no prob

My wife's bionic is having the same. I have an Atrix and Xoom and no issues staying connected, plus I set her's up so I know the right password is in there. She does have a corporate account sync set up, I thought I read in another post that this has caused issues. I did a battery pull thinking this may clear it up, and I've reset the modem/router just in case but still disconnects routinely.

Any thoughts would be great.
