Bionic WiFi Issue

I have a Droid Bionic I have sitting around and every once and a while turn on and play with. Every time I do I connect it to my WiFi and run into problems, shortly after it connects all the other devices in the house using WiFi drop internet connectivity including the Bionic. They are still connected to the router but cannot access internet. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? I have been thinking about installing a custom rom, would that fix the problem?

I'm wondering if I have a similar issue. Is the router still maintaining an internet connection, but the devices can't get online? Or does the router itself loose the online connection?

In my case, my DSL modern/wifi router looses the connection several times during the week to my ISP (ATT). It happens occasionally when my Bionic isn't connected, but seems to be aggravated when I am. I thought it was an ISP issue, but now I'm not so sure. There is a Razr connected almost constantly, so maybe there could be something else going on?

If connecting a device to your wireless network causes problems with all other devices, then I would think it could be an IP address issue. I have seen this happen with my PS3. Try using a static IP address on the Bionic (if that is possible) to a number high in the DHCP range like 192.168.1.250. Or you could change your DHCP range settings on the router to start at 192.168.1.20 and then assign static IP addresses to the other devices on the network using the IP addresses below 20. Make sure you use a different number for each device. If this doesn't work, then it could be a problem with the router. You could try updating the firmware on the router.

I think you are having a different issue than I am having. My actual router never loses connection to my ISP, that sounds like possibly a signal issue. I did have that. We have cable internet and had a 4 way splitter going from the wall and one of the split cables went to the modem and that killed the signal.

What I am currently having is after my Bionic is connected all wireless drops out. The connection is still there but no internet, all my hard wired computers still work fine.

How would an IP address issue make all devices lose internet connectivity? I have seen IP address conflicts before where the 2 devices that had the same IP had issues but not all of them.

Do you know if the Bionic is wireless b/g/n or just b/g? I know if you have an "N" standard and a "G" device connects then it drops all the wireless back to "G". I wonder if that is what is happening and it's just not picking back up.

For me, I would lose connectivity with all devices. Like when my PS3 would connect, I would lose connectivity on all other devices. After I started using a static ip address for the PS3, I no longer had this issue.

I think the Bionic is b/g/n.

It's worth a shot then. I will have to look up to see if I can make the Bionic static
