Birthdays not showing up in Calendar widget?

I just noticed that the Calendar widget only shows upcoming events, not birthdays. So "Pay Bills" is listed but all birthdays are MIA. Does anyone know how to fix this, or do I have to manually add everyone's birthdays to my calendar now?

they will not show up automatically. if you came from a a HTC sense device this was part of sense. You will have to add the facebook events feed to your google calendar or if you have these entered into your contacts profile you have to enable that calendar

google.com/calendar -> Settings ->Calendars->Browser public calendars->Fun Calendars: Contacts' birthdays and events

Well they're definitely enabled in my calendar, they show up in the app itself just fine and I subscribed to em long ago. But they don't show up in the widget for some reason.

I noticed the same thing with mine, but I still got the notification that the person's birthday was here.

I didn't even get that. I happened to open the calendar and saw it there before it was too late.

Maybe this gets fixed in 4.0.3?

that sucks to hear. i was hoping it would be a standard feature of ICS. i like it on Sense - but it is flaky. sometimes some show - sometimes they don't. and sometimes they just disappear. and sometimes a clear data/cache of the Calendar app storage helps.

It's stuff like this that reeks of "fragmentation", but a different kind. A problem Google's had for a while now, not that iOS is any better. They make these wonderful apps that work so well together, then you actually try to use them and up pops the caveat. Everything does work wonderfully together, except the way you need to use it (aka normally).

Right now, my only option is to manually add everyone's birthday to my regular calendar as a bunch of events - A) defeating the purpose of having a birthday calendar in the first place and B) making every new contact require importing to the normal calendar individually. How dare I confuse that for an oversight.

I think I'm just pissed off about it because I'm not a fan of doing extra unnecessary work as a result of someone else's incompetence. There's just always something with these things, isn't there?
