Bitter Sweet. microSD no more. *not complaining, applause to Samsung.

Base storage and specs:
128g and 8g of RAM for the S22 Ultra (no sd card slot) $1199
128g and 12g of RAM for S21 Ultra (no sd card slot) $1199
128g and 12g of RAM FOR S20 Ultra (expandable memory) $1399
256g and 12g of RAM Note 10 + (expandable memory) $1100

I don't know...it sure looks like they're taking away and either charging more, or charging the same. Take into account that they also saved money...sorry, "saved the environment"...by taking the charger out, and it seems to me that there's nothing we should be thanking them for.

They took it away for one reason. They are greedy a$$holes. You can buy a 512GB card for $60 and a 1TB for $120... now they charge you 5X for that amount of space. Let's not forget the convenience of simply swapping cards when you get a new phone. If there was another phone out there on this level that had an SD card I would have ditched $am$ung in a heartbeat.
I have 80 gig of music alone on my phone as well as my entire photo library and select videos and other misc. files. It was thrilling when I got my new phone to spend a stupid amount of time transferring all of my stuff instead of just putting my card in.

So I just transferred majority of my music and videos in my S22U from my 256GB microSD and now only have 43GB.

It just feels weird, for the first time I have to adjust how I use my phone. I understand why Samsung made the move, I have no complaints as we've been SPOILED for years and it was just a matter of time.

They could've milked us for even more, like Apple with their storage options but they didn't by offering 256GB for the price of 128GB. Sure, you can say it's marketing...

Hopefully, they continue this for the Z Flip4.

Like I always say, IT'S BUSINESS DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL.

BTW, I still blame Apple for this. LOL

Even back in the S4/S5 days when Samsung themselves trained me to sell their products they wanted to get rid of the SD card. They blamed it as one of the primary reasons people left Samsung for Apple. SD cards, especially older ones people recycled from old phones, would cause performance issues or fail resulting in lost data and the user would blame Samsung instead of the SD card. Lol

It's funny you say that when the note 5 was the first note without the SD card option. I still remember all the backlash they received for that lol. I knew it was only a matter of time before they removed it for good though. It was inevitable.
My first Android phone was the original 2013 Moto X, which did not have an SD card slot. I had SD card slots on all my other phones since then up until my current S22 Ultra. It isn't a big deal to me, since I'm basically going back to what I had originally.

My S22 Ultra with 256GB was $1199.99 and under the standard price it would have been $1299.99; NOT $1399.99

Yes, prices went down with the S22 over the S20 series; in fact, believe they went down with the S21.
Correct it started with the S21. That was the point I was making to the person that said features have been removed while prices have increased lol. Was pointing out that the prices have dropped down from the initial launch of the Ultra branding.

I agree it's not like having it in the device already but it's a very solid option in my opinion.
It's actually better when you're phone junkies like us because you don't have to worry about it being stationary in one device. No need to remove sim tray. Just plug and unplug device as you see fit.

Working in wireless I use to see so many people with cheap corrupted SD cards. They would get upset(understandably so) because their SD card has failed and erased all personal info that was saved.

Yeah agree

While I have always kept an SD card in my phone's in the past, with the Note 20, I've found I didn't need it with 512GB available. Frankly, I could have gotten by with 256GB. In some older Notes, I opted for larger storage options because I need the space for VR apps. With VR home, I only need enough space for the massive amount of photos I take for work (I'm terrible about maintaining my photos so they just accumulate). 512 is fine for me and my 128GB card had 2GB of junk that I probably don't even need. And with USB-C, moving data to a new phone isn't really a big issue. So I'll probably stick my 128 GB card in my tablet to replace the 32GB card that has barely anything on either.

SD card or not, unless it's maybe a picture you just took losing any data whatsoever on your phone shouldn't be a loss of data. Because your phone should not be primary storage for anything. That should be your computer followed by a NAS or external hard drives or other form such as optical media. So many people rely on their phones for storage. If you have 1000's of photos for example that can't be replaced on your phone and nothing else then you deserve to lose them if something happens.
I don't take selfies so I would gladly give up my front facing camera for an SD card and an AUX jack.

Plus all the counterfeit SD cards from ebay sellers

I store my data locally on external HDD plus in Google Photos and OneDrive.

It took me many times, but I finally learned my lesson to never skimp on SD cards...and power banks...and power bricks.

Seen it myself. People never blame the crappy no-name SD card... It's always "this Samsung phone deleted my pictures, I'm getting an iPhone".

And even good cards are flakey.

I have never had an SD card fail me. I've always used it as my digital backpack for music, movies, digital comics, documents and more. Never used it for pics, apps or app data.

I've owned dozens and have only had one fail and honestly I shoved it into an SD card slot the wrong way while I wasn't sober so I probably ruined it myself. 😂

I have seen them corrupt and lose data a few times, but they worked fine after a reformat.
