The following services Bixby service, Bixby routines, Bixby vision, Bixby, voice all appscannot be disabled on the phone and have several permissions active such as location , camera and microphone. In Android 9 these services could be disabled and permissions removed.

Why are these apps not not removalble? I know from review many peopel do not like Bixby.

Samsung could loose sales to their phones over Bixby.

I had the people at Best Buy to disable Bixby.

I really, really like Google.

But I think they are getting to big and need to fall for a couple yrs. They are being controlled by their workers.
And not listening to the people.

Let the Chineese come in and sell Huawei phones and help with the internet.

Down size Google.
Maybe 1/2 of their sales force go home.
I could handle it.

Samsung has spent millions to develop Bixby.
Think they want bixby to replace google.
Think they want bixby to control a lot of Google.

The purpose of the thread is to point out the issue which I think is a hidden attempt to by pass security.

A update to Android 10 is performed and then a preinstalled Bixby is placed on the phone which cannot be removed by the average user and permissions which also cannot be disabled.

As for Package disabler Pro how does that compare to ADB?

Adb if you want put back you'll need to run the commands again , this app on and off effortlessly
No computer or commands.

The reason permissions have been put on the Operating system is so the user can decide what access to give an application.

In the case of Bixbyy on Android 9 you could disable all permissions and I can't remember if you could disable it. Samsung clearly sneaked this application in Android 10 with fixed permissions which can no longer be removed. The range of Bixby apps have permissions like contacts, microphone etc.. This is a security risk because I do not use the app and not only do I not have the option to remove Bixby because its preinstalled but now the permissions are fixed. This makes it a security risk because if any other app or routine calls out to Bixby to do anything because the permissions are fixed it may activate the microphone or view contacts.

I have no idea why you would think Bixby as an attempt to bypass security. Perhaps you can elaborate?

Why did Samsung spend millions to develop Bixby.

If I'm spending my money.

Why do I have to have Bixby shoved down my throat.

Phone companies are starting to run over consumers to me.

when you look at Bixby on Google , and how to deactivate it.
All you mostly get is what it does....

Would you want to have to deal with Bixby on your phone.

Or letting the Chinese in and using their Huawei phones in if they would go to a universal unlocked phone.

I don't do banking on my phone.

I'm tired of somebody else telling me the Chinese are trying to take over.

If they are..

Wouldn't it be better to sit down with the Communist and talk to them, instead of fighting with them.
Put stiff penalties on them..
We need trade with them..

How are we ever gonna get it if its a constant fight ..

Apple does. For example on a MAcbook pro Siri cannot be simple turned off without going to the setting configuration. Unlike wifi and others which can be disabled from the top menu.

What they do is give you the option but make it difficult or non intuitive to find.

Carboard60 I agree and I don't mind samsung placing the software on the phone but the user should be able to say I don't like it and uninstall or at the least disable it but this cannot be done.

This makes it a security risk since it cannot be disabled and permissions cannot be deactived.

Samsung is not a Chinese company. It is a South Korean company. South Korea is not a Communist nation.

Samsung phones come with Bixby. If you do not want Bixby, then you'll need to purchase a phone that isn't from Samsung or purchase Package Disabler Pro app, which allows one to disable Bixby.

Bixby not a security risk, you downloading a 3rd party app outside playstore is a security risk.
