So, this is my first time with a phone that has Bixby. I upgraded from a Note 3!!!
So, what exactly is Bixby good for? Who uses it? Is it Samsung's Siri? Is it better?

I use Bixby when I'm in the car. Put phone in holder and drive. She turns on Bluetooth, plays my Pandora, sends messages.

I haven't tried yet, but there are quick commands... Someone posted something I thought was cool, they say good morning to Bixby or something like that and Bixby turns on their ringer, tells them the news and weather. Kinda cool. Might try it.

I find bixby to be amazing. I use it and assistant together. assistant for basic stuff like web searches and starting map navigation but when I want to perform detailed multi step tasks to the system such as search down load and installing and loading apps in one step or loading camera choosing option and shooting picture without any camera shake or generally any multi level core functions, I use bixby because Google assistant at this time is not able to do any of this. I don't understand how people compare them. they are extremely different. If anything bixby can perform the single level functions that Google assistant is great at albeit not great as yet but or gets better as you can actively teach it.

Turn on flashlight.
Now that it's getting darker and the sun not out, it's easier for me to press the button and say "open flashlight".

From my understanding, you use Google to do search things, and Bixby to do phone things...

Mainly data mining. Really. There is a reason for Samsung being tone deaf about consumers and reviewers generally not liking it. They understandably want some of the action Apple, Google and Microsoft are getting.

Use Google to speak text messages and make phone calls. Bixby forces you to use stock messages and works mediocre at best, either way can't use textra or third party text messages with bixby.

Bixby is great at controlling your phone. It can go into any part of your phone you wish. Watch a couple of YouTube videos. Not meant to compete with google assistant. It complements it.

I could see that. The others data mine, so why not Samsung.

It's good for phone functions like opening apps, it's usually a lot quicker than Google Assistant in that regard. Google Assistant has been better with recognition and just about everything else for me... that's my take after about 12 days with it.
