Bizarre buzzing sound from speaker.

I thought that it only happened while I was on a call but if I put my ear to the speaker you can hear a low electrical buzzing sound that only goes away when you turn off the phone. Strange. Not sure if any of you guys have noticed it. Not that you would put your ears on the speaker when not talking.

I just did it and noticed it. Luckily the noise didn't overpower hearing the person on the other end of the phone call and it's not enough of an issue at this point to go through the hassle of trying to get a warranty exchange.

Lots of threads on this topic. It seems to be a known issue. If you put the back of the phone up top your ear you may hear it too. I can hear the buzzing with the display up to my ear, the back up to my ear, and of course the earpiece.

As far as it being a hassle to get a replacement, it took me 5 minutes on the phone and my replacement will be here tomorrow. Not much of a hassle if you ask me. Didn't have to argue with the guy or anything and he was very nice.

Let us know if your replacement has the same issue. I may do it but what I meant more is that it's not an issue that makes me have to address immediately.

Will do. I suspect it may have the same buzz but it was worth a try. I have heard some people got a replacement and the buzz is still there much much quieter.

I broke down and called to request a replacement based on the earpiece and the issues I'm having with Google Wallet. No push back and they didn't have an issue that the phone was bought second hand (even though I pointed out that I called Google to transfer the warranty when I was picking up the phone).

Ok good to know I'm not the only one. I have no issues with battery drain. My only other issue is sometimes the call is really loud even though I have the volume set all the way to low. I can lower it by raising it all the way up and then bringing it down again and that seems to work.
I don't think I will risk getting a replacement and only having a minor improvement or some other new issue.

I notice it too but it's not too bad since I hardly ever use the speaker on my phone. Definitely something that doesn't annoy me.

Ya I guess I don't have the speaker issue but rather earpiece issue.

Guess I'll be living with my buzz indefinitely . Google just emailed me back saying that since I didn't originally order the phone (even though Google play told me that transferring the warranty wouldn't be an issue) they won't deal with me and are dumping me onto LG (which I heard dealing with is a nightmare).

Yes I would like to know if the new batches of phones have fixed this buzzing sound.

My replacement will be here later today and I'll post an update.

Ive just tried putting my ear up against the phone. While I hear no noise from the speaker, I can definitely hear a buzz from what looks the headphone jack. Quite disappointed as I seem to have a decent battery and no other problems.

Edit: Seems to come from the back towards the top of the device. Also only when the screen is on

Mine is really slight and seems to be coming from the earpiece and doesn't go away until I power down the phone. I think I'm just going to live with it. I wonder if it has anything to do with my really loud calls.

I decided to live with it to and only try to deal with LG if something more major fails within the warranty period.

So I got my replacement and it is still there. Maybe slightly better but still there. On another note, the display seems to be a little more saturated than my original device.

I had a feeling that it's more of a design thing between the earpiece and the cell radio.
