Black Screen & Double-Clicking Noises

Not sure if this might be the glass screen protector (ZAGG HD) putting pressure on the display, but after my display goes dark on my Note8 I get an intermittent “double-clicking” noise accompanied by a greyed out home button and black screen. This will last anywhere between 5 and 10 seconds, then the display goes dark. This has been happening periodically but before I take it to Best Buy I wanted to know if anyone has experienced this issue.

Is the screen protector covering the proximity sensor or ambient light sensor? If so, it might be due to the Block Accidental Touches feature: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/samsung-galaxy-note-8-guide,review-4668.html

The glass doesn't appear to be covering the sensor, I tried the Block Accidental Touches toggle but still getting this intermittent double clicking sound when the screen is off. Occasionally a greyed-out navigation bar with a home button will appear but won't allow me to press the home button to bring up my lock/home screens.

Does it happen in Safe Mode? If not, then we can narrow it down to something you installed (as opposed to a system app). https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-36242
