Black Screen Weirdness

Unrooted, up to date, less than 30 days use.

Alarm went off as normal.
Shut off alarm.
Screen went black.
Won't wake up.
Assume proximity sensor
Attempted to do a hard reset but I have no clue if it's working if I can't see the screen. Hold the button for a LONG time. Let go and about 10 seconds later it vibrates hard. Normal?
Bottom button lights on intermittently.
Call the phone and it goes straight to voicemail.
Gave notification on ONE text but not on any others.

Any ideas where I might be with this?

Just had the same thing happen to mine. Time to get a new phone. It's what I had to do. They couldn't fix it.

A similar thing happened to me. Called someone. Talked for like 20 minutes. When I went to hang up, the screen stayed black. I pressed the power button and the bottom buttons were flashing... I let go of the power button and nothing happened. I called my phone, and the call went through, but since I couldn't answer it went to voice mail after a few rings.

I pressed the power button again for a long time, and the screen stayed black, bottom buttons were flashing again... It vibrated and everything turned back on. In fact, I'm typing this on my phone. Then I got an error report that said system crash. Weird

A little rant to finish the story:

Took the phone to Sprint Repair Center. They said they couldn't do anything. (even though I have insurance)
They said I have to take it to Best Buy where I purchased it.
Took it to Best Buy, they have a 30 day exchange policy.
I had purchased the phone 31 days before (I kid you not).
I argued that the store was actually closed the day before because of a BLIZZARD!

Best Buy told me if I purchased THEIR insurance, they would backdate it and send it in for repair. I begrudgingly did that, and they shipped it off Friday. Supposedly a replacement phone is being delivered to Best Buy this morning (according to Geek Squad tracking)

So:

Why carry Sprint insurance if it doesn't do anything? Cancelled.
What exactly IS the 1 year warranty on HTC if I have to go through such a runaround (and be extorted by Best Buy) to get the phone fixed or replaced?

Frustrated. Thinking about getting out of my contract and moving to ATT and iPhone.
