Black screen when booting into recovery

I just got an LG Optimus V, it has been rooted. I can run "adb shell" and "su" to root.

I have installed ClockwodMod and it claimed to flash the recovery. When I reboot into recovery ("reboot recovery") I get a solid black screen (no white bars).

I have also tried github.com/inferiorhumanorgans/android_device_lge_thunderc/wiki/IHO-Recovery with the same issue.

Has anyone experienced this? (I have no white bars on the black recovery screen!)
