Black screen when starting applications

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with the screen going black when I start an application or go into the market? I've had this happen a few times, and it seems that I have to restart the phone to resolve the problem.

I've never had that happen before, but it sounds like a serious problem. If it were me I'd factory reset the phone.

I agree with Rag but it sounds like your Cache is not clearing and when you restart it clears and you are good again
