So I have been loving my Atrix, rooted via gingerbreak, did gladenable so i can sideload and enable tethering. I have loaded several apps including Titanium Backup paid version and droidwall among other things. Well today I was going to try and use the stickypad app that came with the phone. I saved the note and then it just went black, but I could still see the white bar at top that says ATT and H+ battery status and such. But if i hit the back or home button it would just vib indication that it registered but do nothing. So I pulled the battery, it comes up fine goes thru the boot and comes to the locked screen. I can see my wallpaper pic and it has the time displayed. When I unlock it it goes back to the black screen with just the top white bar. If i get a notification, say a txt or words with friends, i can pull the notification screen down and then go to the program, but it gets stuck in that program because back or home wont take me out. also If i hit the home button 2-3 times it takes me to the browser which works fine, I can surf but just cant get out of it. I was using the phone for at least 30 minutes before this happened and hadn't made any changes to anything at all today. Anybody seen this or have any hints on how to get back to fully operational? I only have a week worth of stuff so a factory reset wouldn't kill me but but if I can avoid it I would like to try. Any and all help is welcome.

have you tried taking out the battery or something like this...havent had any problems of this sort.Only thing rooting did to my device is corrupt my sd card but no other problems hope you can find a way to unbrick your device good luck

I would flash my phone again but this time with gingerblur and see if you have the same issue. I have gingerblur flashed on my atrix and it's running very stable for me and the phone is so much faster with out all the moto bloatware.

Ok, so I did a factory reset from the recovery screen and am up and running, Now I just have to get things reinstalled. I am very glad I went ahead and got the full version of Titanium Backup.

In conjunction with the speed, you should see longer battery life out of the gingerblur rom, as all the bloatware that runs deep through the phone hogs battery as well as RAM. I've been on gingerblur 3.1 ~2 weeks now, and have no thoughts of returning back except to get major updates, then it will be flashed right back to gingerblur.

Aren't you concerned that the OTA update may prevent you from immediately re-rooting your phone? The OTA updates that I've experienced (I have four different android phones) have *always* unrooted my phone, and in some cases have closed the loophole that was being exploited to achieve root. I'm committed to staying rooted, and will update my system through custom roms only. In Developers I trust - but not in Motorola, HTC, AT&T or Verizon.

I need to do more research on what it takes to recover from bricking my phone before I will make the jump to a custom rom. I don't want to put gingerblur then something go bad and I am stuck with out a phone while I desperately search for the right proceedure of reflashing the OE rom.
