Blank screen after placing a call

On my Pixel 7 Pro, when I place a call the screen immediately goes blank and won't respond to touch - to end the call or even see the screen again during the call I have to push the sleep button to awaken the screen. Anyone else having this issue since the A15 update?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have a screen protector on? If so, make sure it's not blocking the proximity sensor, which should be right near the front-facing camera. Also, make sure that area is clean. Anything that blocks the sensor could potentially make the phone think that it's up against your ear, such that if you make a call, it will immediately cause the screen to go blank (to prevent accidental touches by your ear or face).

Also try rebooting your device sometimes helps with little glitches, if still happens also safe mode if the above mentions didn't help.

I'll move this to our pixel 7 forums

it's something in the proximity sensor, try to make it always on or stay on, from sitting, call, advanced settings

Rebooted several times - always the first thing I try. I've checked all settings also. Proximity sensor was one of the first things I thought of and then screen lock timeout but neither. Didn't start until after the phone updated to A15.

And the fact that the screen is not responsive to touch after blackout is frustrating

What about safe mode?
