Okay, so I just got back from a vacation with some dear friends of mine, myself and others took over 400 pictures of us on my phone, today, I went to an airport and and my phone went through a metal detector and when I got off the plane I noticed that my phone was telling me that my SD card is blank. I look in my pictures and ALL of the photos I took are gone, I go to storage and pressed mount SD card, it tells me that it's blank and needs to be reformatted, someone please tell me that there is some way I can get my pictures back.

Take the SD card out of the phone and plug it into a desktop or laptop. Can you see anything there?

Neither the X-ray machine or the metal detector should have any effect on your phone or the SDCard in it. Not a SanDisk card by any chance?
Hopefully ejecting and reinserting the SDCard will bring the contents back to life.

Exactly the same msg was shown to me in the exact same event. Was returning from a vacation, was on flight, cell phone on flight mode, listening to songs and playing temple run, suddenly sd card went blank...i have no clue why that happened (at that height in the sky and seated in the window seat by the left engine)
Came back home and started reading all over the internet and tried some ways....made severe mistakes but finaly got the pics back :):):).

I had the exact same situation. On a flight I had my phone on Airplane mode. Upon arrival in Tampa SD card was blank was unable to recover any data with my laptop.

Matt,
What brand of SDCard did you have - SanDisk by any chance?

It was a no name card from Ebay 32g class10 came with an adapter. Shipped from China. Only markings are 32G Micro SD 10 Adapter says "Apacer". I have since reformatted and files and music reinstalled seems fine.

I had the same experience, but have not been able to get my pics back and card won't reformat either in my S3 or on desktop. What did you do to get your pics back?

The S3 is a known sd card destroyer. So far it has murdered a 32gb adata sd and a cheap 16gb scandisk.

So backup your stuff on your cloud on daily basis.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Well the exact same thing happened to the SD card again. 1 day it is fine the next day my Droid X2 says it is not on board. Is it possible the Droid X2 won't take a class 10 card? Is Titanium Backup deleting it?? I don't have anything else (I don't think) running at night except Verizon contact backup. Anyone know of a recovery software for an SD that works? any info would be greatly appreciated. Going to try a different card tomorrow. Ceeya

Matt,
You can try Dumpster: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.baloota.dumpster (it has to be installed before you want to recover something that was accidentally deleted) - I know that's not your exact problem but it's good to be aware of.

I have seen some guy mention some PC software that is supposed to be able to recover the contents of SDCards - something Fone. I think it was $49.95 or thereabouts.
Edit: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...y%2Fandroid-data-recovery.html&token=FNgutYCP

And of course you can use your favorite cloud solution for backups.

My SD card just went blank all of a sudden. I was just going somewhere with my family, listening to music while playing and then the music suddenly stopped and so did the game. Then
I freaked out for a minute. Im not really an expert at these kinds of things so I really need a solution fast because all my important stuffs are in the SD card. Please help...

I found that ejecting the SD card unexpectedly, restarting my galaxy tab2 7 4.2.2 and allowing it to fully start up with no SD card.. 8 mins for me, then reinserting it restored functionality.

this points to the controller or some startup app that relies on the SD card, this is the 2nd time its happened to me. the first time I solved it by quick formatting the card on Ubuntu 12, I was attempting to just make the card readable but restored the data this way.

hope this helped

I wish I could give you a solution or at least a reason.

I had this happen with my Galaxy SII. In my case the USB port was defective and was causing all sorts of problems. I went the 2 Sandisk 32 GB SD cards. The good thing is, is that Sandisk has a 5 year warranty on them. However, since my cards dies as a result of a faukt in the phone the store I bought them at (it's also where I bought the phone) replace them for free. After I had the USB port fixed I haven't had any problems

OK, I hope that is going to help to someone. I got 32GB card and used in my HTC Explorer android phone for one week. I have installed all programs that I need for my cell phone. Today, my SD card crashed :( Now, it could be that this has something to do with two most recent programs that I installed - one is Master Cleaner and the 2nd one is Documents to Go. It is worth to mention that both of these programs had something "additional". Master Cleaner was giving me some type of warning that there is something "wrong" with my phone, like a virus etc and ones I click on "Fix" - it takes me to the page to download some antivirus program. Documents To Go, use to be cool earlier - offering Word and Excl but for PDF you only free trial. Now, even PDF is included, but there are plenty of popup ads coming up. I was about to uninstall them from my phone. Also, my LinkedIn app was gone yesterday, but I don't have a clue how. While I was installing and uninstalling mentioned programs, my SD card crashed at one point. I had some videos, language learning programs etc, but I didn't care as long as I fix the card. I tried to format the card on my phone, but it didn't work. I plugged USB cable into my phone, but the laptop still didn't recognize it. At the end, I put SD card in some rechargeable radio-headset and connected with USB to my laptop. Laptop gave me an option to format the card and I did. Ones done, I took the SD card out from that headset and put back in the phone and now it work fine. So, the first thing would be to try to format card using your phone and if it doesn't work then try to change the device (put SD in something else). Now, all my data is gone, but I can say that I still have 32GB card :)

Hope this helps before you delete all of your data because it is unnecessary. You will have to reformat your card but not so quick!

Firstly pull down the drop menu from the top.

Secondly click and hold the notification that says blank sd card or unsupported whichever error you have recieved.

Thirdly after app info appears click on it.

Next click force stop system ui and yes it is ok to do so it will not hurt anything

After that you will need to take off your back cover and remove sd card and re-insert it.

After it goes through the reseating of your sd card it will let you view your photos for a short period of time before it suddenly removes the sd card again. I suggest after everything is visible to pull the sd card and back it up to a computer.

Good luck!

So what finally worked for you?

I have not been in the sky but all of a sudden my micro SD card that has been in my Galaxy S5 for about a year just went blank and I can't see anything on the SD card by searching the phone itself or when I plug in to the computer or stand alone.

Thanks!
