Can't talk source, and this basically has a one-in-three (or four) shot at being right, but there you go.

Well moto had the droid, htc had the n1, samsung had the ns, yep, seems like it is moto's turn again.

Well, Moto hasn't had a Nexus device yet, so they'd be the most likely choice. That, and Moto really helped Android take off with the everyday consumer, so it'd make the most sense.

Motorola producing an AOSP device?!?!? I'd like to see it Phil, I really would, but I can't help but being uber skeptical. It seems they like their Blur so much, they'd put it into a lunch box if they could. I don't want to get excited about them hopping on board the Nexus project just yet.

Only problem is that it would most likely be a TMo-exclusive phone.

Seeing how motorola has no high end devices on T-mobile i would say no. If it is Moto i can see it either on Verizon, or even AT&T now that the iphone isnt exclusive to its network anymore, what a way to draw out people away from verizons iphone. Or could it be thats what Sprint is going to announce ? a A Nexus 4G the first 4G pure goggle phone out there.

Any more details like possible timelines and which carrier...I assume it should be some time in summer 2011 to coincide with IceCream Sandwhich release....
If its going to be AT&T, I will totally skip atrix for that...

Makes some sense to me.

HTC and Samsung have had their turn, so another major partner would probably do the Nexus 3. The only major partners I can think of are LG and Motorola.

I'd love an AOSP Motorola phone.

I bet this will be for t-mobile. They have had the first two nexus' so no doubt they will have the second one. Also I think google decides the carrier.

A bloat-free unlocked phone will never exist on Verizon. If this happens, it will launch on T-Mobile.

I hope they do have the next one. And I hope it has AT&T bands ;)

A next gen atrix type with vanilla android? Count me in!

I'd love to see that, but a bloat-free phone on Sprint seem unrealistic. They filled the Epic with bloat, which I promptly removed. I'll cross my fingers for an AOSP phone on Sprint, but I won't hold my breath.

God, I hope this is true!
Always loved the Moto build quality & materials (yes, even over HTC)... the locked down bootloaders & blur - not so much.

So, my theory:

Every Nexus (and previous dev devices like Dream/Sapphire) were originally meant for developers to help them develop on the newest platforms available:

G1 was the first Android device, Nexus 1 was the first device with 1GHz, 512MB RAM etc.

The Nexus S is a bit tricky, though. It?s basically a slightly improved Galaxy S. New features: NFC and Gyroscope (I know it was already in other Galaxy devices before).
So, why did Google launch the device? I think, they have an dual-core Nexus in the pipeline, which wouldn?t be ready in November/December. So they decided to develope the Nexus S (not that much work I guess ;)) to show the new features of Gingerbread which they wanted to release as early as possible.

Why haven?t they simple updated the Nexus One for demonstration purpose? Because it doesn?t support all new features. NFC etc.

Regarding the Motorola Nexus: Developer need next generation (dual-core, higher res...) phones to optimize their apps. Moto already developed two dual-core devices, Tegra2 is ready. Sounds logical to me.

But beside this, I still pray for an HTC dual-core phone in the very next months ;)

No. i won`t let this happen next Nexus is HTC. YES! AGAIN!! :P

High quality solid reliable phone is what the Nexus Project should be all about and HTC made an Awesome job with N1 why not do it again?!

I can't wait but they better wait to release it because I barely got my Nexus S and I do not want to go but another one just yet. Another year maybe.

Damn it Jerry! Stop trying to wreck my dream. Anyway the OG was bloat-free!

I'm going to guess it will be like the Atrix. Only it will be vanilla Android, and when docked it will launch Chrome OS and Chrome web browser, instead of Moto Blur, Linux, and Firefox.
