Has anyone tried turning it off if they are experiencing the screen dead spots issues? Or does that not work unless the phone screen is off in pocket? I don't have and haven't had any issues but maybe that may help?

Accidental Touches has nothing to do with dead pixels. One is the digitizer layer of the screen, the other is the LCD layer of the screen.

Block accidental touches option is to disable the touchscreen when the light sensor detects your phone is in a pocket, etc..
