blocking a text message

I've seen that you can block a text by going to settings then personalization then blocking mode. But I have no blocking mode? Help need to block number from texting me. Thank you.

Hello. Welcome to Android Central.

What device do you have. On some devices with the latest Android 5.0, blocking mode changed to Interruptions settings.

However on my Samsung Note 3 with KitKat 4.4, I can block texters in the Message app - Menu - Settings - Spam settings.

When I go to settings and personalization I only have 4 options of easy mode, accesabilty, private mode and finger scanner. That's it. No blocking mode? But I've seen you can block texts by adding to spam so I've done that. But still wondering why I haven't got blocking mode? .

I use an app called Mr. Number that allows you to block a number coming in. I believe it works with text messages as well. Also, depending on what carrier you are on.....I am on Verizon and I can go to my account on Verizon and block up to 5 or 10 numbers that I don't want to come through.

Thanx but I've just put them as spam for now and asked a friend to text me then put her number in spam then I received no message so must of worked. So time will tell .

Hi. I know that Blocking Mode was integrated into a new "Interruptions" setting with the Lollipop / Android 5.0 update. Have a search or ask in the Samsung S5 forum if you need help sorting it out. I know a lot of people are/were unhappy with silly changes to the S5 including Mute and Notification issues.

Thanx yes I no its changed since the update. I've updated mine twice now in a few weeks. I noticed the mute went but is back now after 3nd update. I can't see the interuptions either.

I am not one of the Official Wizards here, I only have Mortal Powers (and a Galaxy Note 3!), but I read about this in AC articles and there were other questions here.

There was a similar one below yours at time of writing but no firm fix.

I am surprised this has not been addressed, but new patches may be rolling out slowly to different carriers.

Yes I did see that. But was talking about alarms and stuff also. I was just looking on blocking a number from texting really that's it. But have no blocking mode or the other one what had replaced it. But like I said earlier I've put the number in spam messages . And asked a friend to text me by putting her number in my spam messages and I never got the message. So hopefully this works. It seems to have.

I think that's all you need on a Samsung. Blocking Mode is more for your quiet time at night when you only want to allow certain callers at certain times. It can be used the other way, but is convoluted.

So that blocking mode is not to block texts? Just to stop people contacting you of a night is it for. Oh right thanx didn't no that. Just as well I found to put number in spam messages then. Thanx everyone. X
