Blown Speaker?

I usually keep the volume on my phone off (turned down to zero).

Yesterday, I pulled up a YouTube video, and while it was playing, turned up the media volume. On just the first push past zero volume, the sound was extremely loud, and horribly distorted. At first, I thought it was a problem with the video I was watching.

I played an MP3 through Google Music later, and the same thing happened. This morning, my alarm went off (phone alarm), same issue.

Is my speaker blown? Anyone else have this issue?

Not sure what would have caused a blown speaker, as I really rarely use it.

Interesting...

I was curious if the sound was distorted in my headphones too... Plugged them into the headphone jack, and it sounded fine.

Pulled the headphones out, and the sound on the external speaker is fine now.

I wonder if the switch was stuck?

same thing happened to my wife's epic, just pulled the battery and when it restarted it sounded fine again... just a shot in the dark??
