Hi, I have a BLU Advance 5.0 phone ( OS=Android 5.1 ).

Can someone tell me whether I can connect it to an ethernet network? Will any generic USB ethernet adapter do, or will only a particular brand do? Do I need some special USB cable as well? And how about the OS support for it?

Thanks a lot!

Here's a link to a recent (9/2017) article on the subject;

How to Connect a Android to a Wired Ethernet Connection | WirelesSHack

It states;

"First Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 which was released October 2015 must be installed."
~
"Previous android versions needed to be rooted which is no longer the case with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 and above."

Why do you want to use Ethernet instead of WiFi, if you don't mind me asking? Is it due to the lack of a wireless router or you want increased speed?

Thanks for the info.

What is the best app to root my BLU Advance 5.0 phone? I heard that the KingRoot app is spyware. So I want to stay away from it.

Is a generic USB 2.0/3.0 ethernet adapter better, or Is a dedicated microUSB plug ethernet adapter better? The USB 2.0/3.0 ones seem pretty much commoditized, and much better priced.
