Blu VIVO 5R Notification Volume

I just picked up the Blu VIVO 5R off Amazon during Prime Day to replace my R1 HD. So far I haven't had any issues with the phone but one thing that is annoying me is that the ringtone volume control does not appear to control notification volume. Notifications for email are extremely loud and I can't seem to lower the volume. My only option is to turn off audio notifications for email all together. I've gone over everything in settings I can find and have been unable to figure out how to lower the notification volume. I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm missing and get me pointed in the right direction.

Do you get this>> When you press your device's volume-up or volume-down button, you'll now get a simple volume slider for turning notification sounds up or down. Want to change the volume of your music or alarm? You can do that, too: Just hit the little expansion arrow on the slider to access separate controls for those areas.

I ended up having to download a separate app that would let me set volumes for notifications and ringtones separately.

The app I used was "Volume Control" by Netroken.
