Blue lines on the back camera

Hi everyone!
I recently noticed a blue line and a blue dot on the screen when taking a picture on my s3. There is a picture attached so you can better understand what i am on about. At first i thought it was just on the screen and it didnt show up on a photo but it shows up on very dark pictures and not so much on ones with lots of light. It is also just on the back camera it doesn't show up on the front camera. Does anyone have any idea what this is or how to get rid of it. Is the camera faulty should i go to carphone warehouse or somewhere like that and try and get it fixed. Any help would be much appreciated!

Try cleaning the camera lens first. If that's not the trouble, it's probably the sensor.

Definitely the sensor. This isn't something that your carrier store will be able to fix - they'll either have to give you a replacement phone or you'll have to send it to Samsung for warranty repair.

Cheers for the replies. I have cleaned the lens and its still there and i'm not sure what you quite mean by the sensor. could you please explain further what you mean. Thanks again!

The camera sensor - it's a light sensitive piece of circuitry in the phone (see
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/cameras-photography/digital/question362.htm for a better description) that's responsible for converting light into pixels, which the camera firmware decodes into images. If something happens to one or more of the pixels in the sensor then you get artifacts in the picture - in your case, the blue dot and blue line.

The only thing you can do is:
- get the phone replaced
- get the phone repaired
- purchase a replacement camera sensor (typically a small circuit board with a ribbon cable) and replace it yourself
- photoshop out the offending artifacts

I have the same issue with my S5... when i asked optus they tell me phone insurance doesn't cover the camera only a damaged or broken phone. Was there an outcome to this issue from original post?
