Bluethooth draining battery after KitKat update

I have noticed every day since the update that Bluetooth has used like 10% of my battery. I don't ever have Bluetooth on, so why would it be draining my battery so much? Has anyone else had this problem since the update?

Something in your phone is turning your BT on somehow. Because mine still reads 0 after the update. That's a very odd thing but supposing an app with permissions to alter bluetooth state is acting it would make sense. Otherwise I can't think of any other reason.

Mine is doing the same thing (not that it really seems to have any truly tangible effect on the battery life). I wonder what app it is...

Hi hallmr09, can you please take a screen shot of your battery usage? You can access this by going to Settings>Battery>Battery Information. Please include a screen shot of the graph as well as the Battery Use Details. ^MA

Mine is showing 3% used by BT and my BT has been turned off all day.

Edit: I checked my usage via the GSam battery monitor and it lists BT usage at 0%. I wonder which one has it wrong...

Seems to be a glitch in the battery monitor. Mine always shows 3 or 4 percent, without ever turning it on, and no matter how much or how little battery has been used.

did you do a factory data reset after upgrading to kk ota? if not it's probably a really good idea. make sure to back up apps and data to a computer if u don't want to lose settings/files

FYI... I leave my BlueTooth on all the time, but use it rarely (lately not at all during a day), it amounts for 2% of my battery usage everyday. As of 4:30 today, 8h 47min on time, it amounts for 3m 53s of CPU time and 30m 10s awake time. Note that this is 2% of the 13% total usage, so in reality it is 0.26% of total battery drain in almost 9 hours well turned on but not used.

I will turn it off tomorrow and see how it does.
