Bluetooth audio delay

Hi,
I'm having some trouble with my earbuds.
As the title says, there is a very noticeable audio delay (~250ms) when using them with my phone.
I've tried some of the more obvious things, like disabling dolby atmos and switching through various codecs in dev options (default is aptx adaptive), but none of those things really helped.
I have also bought the cheapest bluetooth adapter for my pc, just to see how that would work, and to my surprise, there is absolutely no delay whatsoever.
earbuds: sennheiser cx plus
phone: legion duel 2

Have you already tried manually resetting your CX Plus earbuds to their factory defaults? Perhaps it's not a phone Bluetooth issue but just some glitch that popped up with your earbuds.
Since this delay isn't an issue with your PC, are you using the Sennheiser app to interact with your earbuds or did you just use the default Android Bluetooth service to pair up with your earbuds? Given your earbuds do have a more extensive feature set, like noise cancelling, that added overhead requiring more audio signal processing via the app might be something to look into.

Maybe in developer settings can change the codec profile for Bluetooth

I have tried resetting everything, going as far as re-flashing the phone. I have also tried resetting the earbuds.
I'm using the normal android bluetooth interface, the sennheiser app is only for stuff like remapping the shortcuts. Noise cancelling is off.
As for switching the codecs, changing from aptx to SBC had a somewhat positive effect, but the delay is still there.
I have also tried using the earbuds with another phone, since I recalled having an old Mi 8 around, and the delay is still there.
Seems like something android specific, but I'm not really sure what it could be
