bluetooth/audio jack conflict

Here's the deal: when I am listening to music through my car stereo, I don't want to have to unplug the audio out jack of my Epic in order to place a call or talk to whomever is calling me. I thought if I bought a Jawbone, it would solve this issue, but it appears that plugging in the audio jack trumps everything and I cannot get anything to work until I unplug that jack. So am back to square one unless someone can help

We have other threads regarding this. I'm just as frustrated as you. Email samsung would be my suggestion. As far as resources from outside Samsung, I'm hoping for a widget or app that will send all priority to bluetooth when a call is incoming.

Or outgoing. The in call selection screen already has softkeys that are labeled as if they should send audio wherever you want... there's one for bluetooth one for speaker etc. Blackberry always has these little details worked out. Do you know if this is an android prob or samsung prob? If android maybe will be fixed in froyo.

Audio jack disables all other outputs when plugged

I started a trouble ticket with samsung. the ticket # is 2007-713-975 they do not know whether this issue is addressed in 2.2

Evo did not have this issue. Samsung problem.

Hell, the Hero didn't have that problem let alone the EVO. Silly Samsung oversight.

The other annoying (somewhat related) thing is that notification sounds play over the MP3 player without pausing the mp3. With my previous HTC devices, the mp3 would pause, you'd hear the notification and then the MP3 playback would resume. No biggie if you listen to music, but for audiobooks and podcasts you can miss a few seconds and have to guess at what you missed. Also silly.

This issue is resolved for me in di18 update. hope it does the same for you all.

I have the update and am still having the bluetooth/audio out issue. I still have to unplug the 3.5 cable in order to hear the caller over bluetooth in my car.

I emailed Samsung about this and they said it was designed with this deficiency. Wish they'd just fix it with Froyo.

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The evo doesn't seem to have this problem. Neither does the iphone.

this issue was fixed for mein the di18 update. are you guys not seeing the same or maybe you haven't had the update?

I got the DI18 update but it still doesn't use the bluetooth headset's mic/speaker when the headphone jack's plugged in.

sorry guys my fault - I sold my bluetooth as it did not solve my original problem. The original issue I had was that the built in mic was disabled when the audio jack was plugged. this issue was fixed with di18 update. since I use my car stereo for a speakerphone, it works well, and the echo doesn't happen for the other person as long as I don't turn it up too high. Bluetooth users that run aux to their stereo are still in trouble, samsung should fix this ASAP

What about the built in mic/voice search features being disabled when you are paired to a headset...I really hate that.

I believe that feature is only supported with Froyo. That would make Vlingo so much cooler too.

On DI18 as well. I have been bit by this as well. I often have my Epic plugged into the aux jack on my car to stream music. When a call comes in, I just hit the answer button on my phone. I previously never had to thing "is the phone connected to the aux jack". Quite a PITA. Hope there is a fix/workaround soon.

I'm on DI18 also. I've had the phone for a week and I'm thinking of swapping it for an EVO. With all the insane drivers here in the DC area, I can't afford to take my hands off the wheel to unplug the from the aux jack so I can use Bluetooth. That's a pretty stupid design deficiency if you ask me.
