Bluetooth audio volume issues

Hi, I'm having an issue with my Bluetooth audio. I have an iBT16 iHome Bluetooth speaker. When I connect to it via Bluetooth, the audio is so low that even with the Bluetooth volume control at max (on the phone, speaker doesn't have audio controls), I have to put the speaker up to my ear to hear it.

This is a new problem. I've used the speaker for months without issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps I've already taken.

I don't have another Bluetooth audio device to test with, but my brother can still connect to and use this speaker with no issues.

I have gone into my app manager and force stopped all 3 Bluetooth relevant apps. Bluetooth share had a cache I could wipe.

I have gone into recovery and cleared the cache partition.

Both the phone and the speaker have been turned off and on again many times during troubleshooting.

If I can't get this fixed before I get out of work, I'll stop by best buy and Bluetooth to their display speakers to test. I would prefer not to have to buy a new speaker as I am quite broke, but it's very hard to get through a day of work without one. Please give me any ideas and troubleshooting steps I may have missed.

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Does the phone have any equalizer settings turned on? If so, turn them off.

There were no equalizer settings changed, but I messed around with them a bit and retried the speaker. No change. Returned equalizer settings back to default, with everything off. Still having the issue

If your brother can connect to your BT speaker with normal volumes, that tells me that the speaker is OK. Something is amiss on your phone. LAST resort would be a factory reset. I stress "LAST" as that's a major PITA. Hopefully someone will find the source of the trouble before you try a reset.

If I have to factory reset to fix the problem, it isn't really worth fixing. I might dig up an auxillary cable and just use that to connect to the speaker if I can't get this issue resolved. I'll report back after I've tested other speakers at best buy.

You could also try reinstalling the firmware using Smart Switch.

The speaker at best buy worked just fine with my phone.

So the issue is somehow between my phone and my speaker, and I am flummoxed...

Have you also forgotten the Bluetooth speaker on the phone, and then gone through the process of re-pairing it?
