bluetooth connection noise

Every time I connect my phone to my car stereo I get this loud tinging sound. I assumed it meant a connection was made but now it can last around a minute. Sometimes resumes again and again after the streaming has started. The only way to describe the sound is that its the most annoying sound in the world. I couldn't find any setting for it. Anyone know how to stop this? Never have this issue with other phones.
