Bluetooth connection staying on in charging case

So one of the things I've noticed lately, is that when I just gently put my pixel buds back in the charging case that I closed the lid, they're charging fine, however, the Bluetooth connection stays on and I don't hear my ringtone for notifications. What I have to do is forcefully and pretty roughly push them down on the metal pin so that the Bluetooth connection turns off. Has anyone noticed this at all? Same concept as if you have the comply foam ear tips, you have to push the pixel bugs down on the charging pins with heavy force in order to get them to charge, stay in the case, and for the Bluetooth connection to turn off.

I have not experienced this however my case stopped charging my ear buds a few weeks ago and got a replacement. You should probably request one of you have already tried a factory reset.

I've been experiencing this issue for quite a few weeks now. So, you just called up Google, told them the issue, and they sent you another charging case in the mail? You didn't have to pay anything?

I didn't even call them just chat with the support page. Below I'll paste the link and if you scroll to the bottom you can click the contact us button and chat with them.

Yes they sent me a replacement and with a return label to ship the defective buds free. I didn't have to pay anything not even shipping. Your bids have a 1 year warranty so you can get the replaced before your one year.

Yeah thanks. I tried chatting with Google Support online before, but they Pixel Buds team was too busy, they said they'd email me back. I might try chatting with them again soon though. Yeah, that makes sense, 1-year warranty...Lets see if i can get through to them, and go from there.

Update: So, I just spoke e to the Pixel team member. She basically said that since i didn't originally buy my buds (my wife bought them for me) that I'd have to send in mine first, then they inspect them, then they send me out the new set which is ridiculous because I do not want to be without my buds obviously. The 2nd option is to have my wife chat with Google online which I'm just sure she's dying to do. lol then they have that advanced exchange, where I'd get the newer set faster. My buds right now are working fine enough, so it's not too big of a deal...

So, the other morning at the gym, the audio in my left bud went out. So, for a few minutes in the locker room, i quickly deleted my pixel buds from my phone, and re-synced them up again. Thankfully I don't have to do that all that much. Every now and then, however, that seems to have fixed the charging case connection as well.

Glad it resolved your issue. On another note that used to happen to me back when I first got the buds with one of the older firmwares but since one of the latest firmware updates was pushed that hasn't happened to me since. My buds have been solid for the last 2-3 months.

I will say that will say that with the latest firmware update, my buds have also been pretty solid overall. I mean obviously, I expect there to be some hiccups here and there. Nothing in technology is 100% perfect. lol For the most part, my buds are pretty solid, and yes, quickly re-syncing them with my phone isn't a frustratingly painful experience either honestly, as long as they work. which they do!

I wonder if the pins in the case and connection points on the buds ever need to be cleaned? Would that make a difference?

Hey, I thought of that. thanks! At the gym, I've thoroughly cleaned both with some sanitizing hand wipes.. Very good though though!

I have been experiencing the same issues. I noticed the other day audio from a video was going to my Pixel Buds but they were in the case. Seems like cleaning the connects helps a bit but it didn't do this before the update. Strange.

Yes, I agree! There are quite a few times where my BT connection on my phone will be connected to the buds while they are INSIDE of my case. Which makes NO SENSE whatsoever! It's also a little bit annoying. I mean, I do love my Pixel Buds as I am a Googler like I said, and I am hoping Pixel online support can help me out with my Google Assistant not activation issue. They might have to send me replacement case, and buds in the mail. I'll have to see how it goes over the phone later this morning. Overall though, the buds work very well. I will say that much now.

So...what was the outcome?
I just got the Buds and am having an issue with the left bud's battery draining while in the case. I did an online chat with Google last night and went through a bunch of resetting. At first glance it looks like it worked. Time will tell today.

Honestly, what I had to do for myself was called Google, and they sent me a replacement set of pixel buds in the mail. The metal pin connectors in the case for charging them is a little bit better. I hope this helps you out a little bit!

The problem is persisting. Just like your original issue the buds stay connected when in the case and drains the left bud while the right bud charges just fine and is disconnected from the phone. I have to manually disconnect the case from the phone.
I'll be chatting with Support today. I'm really disappointed with Google's quality control on this product. Thankfully I have my two Plantronics 5200 for work calls (I work from home).
I will say the call quality with the Pixel Buds are excellent, even my wife agrees. I just wish the battery life for phone calls was in the same league as the Plantronics.

Oh, damn, I’m very sorry to hear your issue! Yeah, with my first set of pixel buds, my buds will actually stay connected on in the charging case. I never realize that until I was going to pick up my phone to take a phone call, and the Bluetooth is not connected! That wasn’t the issue that I called Google all four of the words, but with the replacement second pair of pixel buds, I don’t have that issue anymore. Good luck to you and let us know if you need any help at all. Yeah, the audio/car quality of the pixel buds for me is perfect. I have no issues talking on them whatsoever. No one complains about my audio on the phone. It’s great. I also love the fact that I can use each year but independently from one another. So, if one bud is dead like you were describing, I can use the other one while the other is charging etc. etc. I also my Bose true wireless sound sport earbuds which I use on my laptop primarily. The problem with those earbuds is the fact that when I’m talking on the phone the air buds are a parent/child relationship. The left side blood is the child of the right side parent. But really it’s annoying when you’re talking on the phone and you only have one sided audio. That’s what I definitely love about the pixel buds!

I chatted to Google support this morning. The person I talked to eventually escalated it to an upper level. Then he disconnected from the chat so I left. Now I'm wondering what will happen next. I did clean the contacts and it does seem to be working fine...for now.
I'll see what happens in the next day or so.
Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

oh heck yeah, of course! I know how frustrating it can be. However, I will say this much. For the times I’ve had a Contacts Google/pixels of work, I’m going through right away. The person I was online chatting with and then called on the phone, was very nice and help me for a couple days in a row and finally got me the brand new replacement buds that I wanted. If you clean the metal contact pins on your charger case, definitely see how that works out for you for the next day or so. Let us know. If there still an issue depending on the phone you have, try to call up google support on the phone and see if you have any better luck!
