Bluetooth connection to vehicles does not play audio

For the past few weeks I've been unable to get audio from navigation apps like Google Navy and Waze to play over my vehicle speakers. Also do not get notification sounds when texts come in. I have tried it on two different vehicles. I've also tried clearing the cache in the bluetooth app and even did a hard reset with no luck. I've tried deleting the connections in the vehicle and the phone. Incoming and outgoing calls work just fine. On my S7 it shows all options within the Bluetooth connection as "on". I have an iPhone for work and it connects and plays all audio just fine. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee and not sure about yours but with mine, it's 2 separate connections. First it asks me about my phone, then it asks about audio after that. Don't think it's the phone, it's just how the phone connects to the vehicles BT. I would contact your Vehicles manufacture to ask them

Yes, it asks me both as well and I give permission for both. As I stated above, it has not worked in two different vehicles. A 2015 Ford F-150 and a 2016 VW GTI. Odd, because it worked for 2 months, then stopped, was thinking it had something to do with an update, just a hunch

I supposed that is very possible. Marshmallow could be the culprit. Could be the phone or your vehicles could need a firmware upgrade form the manufacture. Since they are both newer vehicles.

For your Ford

And for your GTI
Volkswagen Media Device Interface (MDI) Firmware Upgrade 0530-0546 KW22-2012 | my-gti.com

PS I had an 84 GTI...LOVED that little beast! Went like hell, and never failed me. Think all I ever changed on it was the upper Rad hose! Miss it!

I appreciate you help on this, however that link appears to be for 2012 model vehicles, 2016 infotainment systems on the vws are leaps and bounds from 2012. Yeah, it's a great car and I love driving it.

Either way, see if there's a firmware for your year and make ;)
