Bluetooth in car

May be a false alarm. This A.M. I got the disconnect/reconnect issue. I re-paired and it worked again. This is getting beyond frustrating.

I have a Ford Fusion and it took less then 15 seconds to sync the phone and download my contacts. If I leave the ignition on and walk away I have to go some distance before it loses the connection. Media, texts, and call all work great with no issues.

Mine worked flawlessly as well until the last week or so. I've reset the connection, repaired, deleted the device out of my car's memory, and still having issues. Turning the Bluetooth on my phone off then on can help, but its not 100% even then. Even reinstalled the car's Bluetooth firmware.

I don't expect any smartphone to be perfect, but its mostly annoying because it had been darn close to perfect for the 1.5 months I had it until it start glitching out.

I'm in this boat. What changed to make this start failing?

I tried the trick yesterday of not allowing messages to sync with my 2013 BMW. At first I was very happy cause it was working! It worked for the rest of that trip (about 20 mins) then when I got back in the car a while later, it was back to it's old tricks. WIth mine... it spins a ton, then actually DELETES the bluetooth sync from the car!!!!

I would try syncing another phone and see if the issue goes away. I'm sure if you call verizon they will have you reset your device.
One thing to try for the heck of it, hold the power down and power button for 10 seconds. This is the same as a battery pull.
Please let me know if it helps.

Yeah this is exactly what happens with me. I gave up trying to fix it. My 2013 BMW works with CM10.2 and a Galaxy S3 (messages, texts, phone, music, etc.), and the iPhone 5S (although messages requires some hackery to make it work). It does not work at all with the Droid Maxx. It connect loops to the point that the iDrive system actually hot boots as well. Something's not right with the BT implementation on the Maxx.

Haven't had the time to really think much about it lately, but might scan through the Moto X boards to see how the BMW owners are making out there. Trying to figure out whether it's the VZW customizations in the Droid or whether Motorola's overall Bluetooth implementation is crap.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the power button hold and it connected quickly when it rebooted but on subsequent connections when I'd enter the car again it would be back to its connection looping tricks.

Gotta dig out my N4 and see how it does with the car stereo. The maxx connects to my Bluetooth headphones no problem.

Maybe the Ford Sync itself has a glitch, try resetting it by pulling a fuse:

The fuse for the SYNC module (a.k.a MGM) is located in the Smart Junciton Box (SJB) in the drivers side kick panel. (See Owners Guide)

The fuse F14 is a 10 amp (red) fuse. Pull the fuse to reset the SYNC module.

The owner guide lists F14 (10A) as the Power liftgate module, CID, MGM. The MGM is (Multimedia Gateway Module) also commonly known as SYNC.

This fully resets the sync system and deletes all stored info and settings. I had to do this once to fix a problem with a blackberry phone.
Let me know if this fixes the problem.

My MAXX still won't connect to the U connect system in my Dodge Caliber.

You can do a factory reset on Ford SYNC without pulling the fuse.

From what I understand that doing a factory reset isn't really a full reset and it didn't fix my past problem, pulling the fuse did.

Bumping this thread. I won't be near my car for quite a while, so checking in to see if things have improved for anyone post-update.

Mine has started working post update! After dozens of failures I had given up for a while with my 2013 BMW... the phone would stop working after about 10 minutes on Bluetooth and then disconnect from the car. Ever since the update, (so far anyway, from about 5 trips) it is still working! :)

This is great news!!! Thanks... been really annoyed by this. Looks like 1 less annoyance.

Music and phone calls are working great for my Maxx and My Ford Touch. Only problem is the Google Navigation will not play thru my car speakers. The navigation prompts play from the phone speaker even when music is playing thru bluetooth. Very strange.

Well, the new update still does not work on my uconnect system in my Dodge Caliber.

Mine plays navigation through car speakers while playing music/Pandora through my Kenwood via bluetooth.

I've had no problem using bluetooth in my crv. Great connection and it reads out my texts to me, but how do I get it to play navigation through my speakers?

I have been having poor Bluetooth sound quality and periodic loss of connection in my 2010 Escape with Ford Sync. I saw similar issues with an iPhone 3G that eventually were fixed with some updates from Apple.
