Bluetooth issue

I had this happen with my note 9 and now the S10+. If I have my watch connected to Bluetooth and I try to use my Bluetooth headset on the phone, the headset does not work right, my voice volume goes way down, like a whisper what people say, I can hear them fine. I have tried different headsets with same result. If I turn the Bluetooth off on the watch the headsets work fine. Thankfully I have the LTE version of the watch, but I would rather use the Bluetooth connection, the notifications come thru faster.

Anyone else have this issue, know how to fix it, ideas? Thanks

I have only used corded earbuds so I am not sure how to fix that. Hopefully someone comes along with a solution because I would like to get myself a wireless set where I can make phone calls.

Most BT headsets that I know of can only be paired to one device at a time. It sounds like yours are paired to the watch. They won't switch when you get a call. Sometimes my watch answers instead of my phone and I have to answer and hit the little phone icon on the watch to switch to the phone.

Good point @Greymire
You can 'pair' to both but obviously only connect to one at a time. I think to change to phone, you would have to go into Bluetooth settings on the phone and tap on the headset. Then I think it would switch connection from watch to phone. There used to be a quick connect or similar sounding feature on Samsung phones which you could optionally add to your notification shade which I think would have made this easier.

You can also switch connection from phone to watch easily as I have done this several times myself. If you add 'headset' to the quick settings (pull down shade) on the watch, you just tap the icon. It jiggles and then you are connected which it shows with a blue dot. I know the OP doesn't want to switch connection this way round, though.

My headset is not paired to my watch. If it is, it did it on its own.

Our car audio system connects to either my phone or my wifes phone automatically, it connects with the phone it was connected to the last time. To connect the headset to another phone we first have to manually disconnect, then reconnect to the other phone.

I think this also goes for the headset. It will connect to the watch automatically if it was connected to the watch the last time the headset was used.

As far as I can tell: a connection is either-or. There should be no interference by the BT-connection with your watch if your headset is connected to your phone.
People hearing you faintly while you can hear them clearly sounds like you are calling through the watch, not the phone.
So could it be you're assuming your headset is connected to your Phone, while it actually is connected to your watch? You can check in the settings on either your watch or your Phone, as Sonnet described.

When I go to connections in settings on the watch and select headset.. There is no headset connected to the watch. In Bluetooth settings on phone I am connected to the headset and watch.
