Bluetooth Issues Resolved (?)

So I know I'm not alone in my frustration with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus' busted bluetooth functionality.

A premium device like the Galaxy Nexus should be able to connect to a hands-free phone protocol and an A2DP bluetooth audio gateway at the same time (and stay conected, working reliably). Maybe it's too much to expect it to remember the paired connections, and reconnect automatically. Mine does not. My completely stock (not unlocked or rooted) device has to be restarted at least once (maybe more) if using the factory BMW hands free bluetooth and / or A2DP audio gateway are expected to work. To be fair- this is the only complaint that I have with this phone (other than the slow updates, but that is not Google or Samsung's fault). Everything else works very well. Samsung / Google need to fix this.

After much research, I came across this Google complaint blog:

One of the comments (#45) advises those with this particular set of problems to try downloading an app called "A2DP Volume". It's an application that allows customizations to each paired device individually. It also seemingly solves the problems I am / was facing. It's only been one day, but I've connected, gone out of range, and come back into range maybe 15 times today, and it has worked flawlessly.

For me- (if this really is going to work) this will completely transform the utility of this phone.

I just thought I would share my early findings, with the hope that this helps someone struggling with the same problems.

Ill have to give this a try. Im driving up to Baltimore from Richmond VA tomorrow and will be using my headset. I have never really been happy with the call quality when using my headset but I use so little its not a big deal for me.

I was just playing with it on my SGN. I want to be able to increase the "in call Bluetooth volume" and no matter what I did the volume didn't get any louder.

I am not looking to play with Media Bluetooth volume, only In call. Any ideas?

With my limited knowledge of the A2DP Volume app, I believe you can set the volume for each connected device individually.

I'm sad to report that A2DP Volume did NOT solve my bluetooth connectivity problem. Once connected to the in-car (in my case, BMW) hands-free profile, and my in-car bluetooth receiver everything seems to work the way it should. Once I leave the car (and end the connections) it doesn't automatically reconnect (in fact- bluetooth doesn't even find the devices looking to pair). Toggling bluetooth on/off on the car and on the phone does nothing. Only a reboot / battery pull sets every back up properly.

I'll be sure to try something for more than a day or two before declaring that it works. I really wish Google would fix this. I'm no developer, but it seems like a piece of basic functionality that should just work.

I had Bluetooth issues with my Samsung Droid Charge with the Ford Sync in my car. Audio data stream would be choppy at best and lock up too much. For the most part it would stay connected but streaming was so annoying I started using a 3.5mm cord and my aux input which negated having Bluetooth in my car at all. Another strange thing is that when I would loose Mobile data, had have to turn BT off before it would come back. I thoroughly believe that BT data and Mobile data interfere with each other in Samsung phones and that was a huge consideration in picking what I have now. Not only am I now streaming beautifully, it added a feature I didn't have on the Samsung, voice read out of the text messages. Very cool stuff. Hope you find a resolution to your issues but I'm just not a big fan of any radios that Samsung build.

OK. This may be something that is already widely known or better understood than I know- but I think I **FINALLY** figured out the problem with my (and likely many other people's) Galaxy Nexus bluetooth connectivity.

My problems have to do with the fact that I sync my Verizon Galaxy Nexus with my BMW factory bluetooth and A2DP Bluetooth receiver (for music) and it works reliably at that moment, and that day- but once I exit the car (and terminate the connections) for the day, and get in my car in the morning- nothing connects automatically, and I have to restart the phone to get it to work again.

Reading the previously mentioned Google Forum (24012) someone suggested that perhaps the problem is caused by airplane mode. I use "Automateit" to put my VGN into Airplane Mode every night (since probably February). I disabled that command (and have not restarted, pulled the battery or put my GN into airplane mode since ) and it has worked FLAWLESSLY. No problems at all.

In my specific case (Verizon Galaxy Nexus, 4.04, never rooted or unlocked, few apps) the (or a) problem lies with Airplane Mode.

I hope this helps someone else troubleshoot their Galaxy Nexus.

I reread my post, and I meant to add that I stopped using Airplane Mode 8 days ago and Bluetooth has worked flawlessly ever since (and I didn't touch my car at all over the last 3 days). I got in my car this morning, and everything still worked perfectly.

I made sure to run this for a week before reporting that it works. The next step is to put the phone into Airplane Mode and see if it exibits the same old problems.

I am having similar issues, except my GN will not even pair to my A2DP receiver.

My car 2012 Mercedes GL450 does not have native bluetooth streaming capabilities (a whole other story that I am really pissed about). My phone connects to the Mercedes Comand bluetooth phone feature, askes me to transfer my contacts, etc, but when i try to connect to the bluetooth receiver i bought and connected into the i-crap dock in my glovebox i cannot pair to it. The GN sees the receiver, and i try to connect, enter the password, and get an error stating that i cannot connect. Ive tried the airplane mode toggle, toggling bluetooth, unpairing the phone connection - all to no avail.

I am Rooted, running JB 4.1.1 - XenonHD ROM with Trinity kernal.

Oh, my 3+ year old stock DroidX connects to the bluetooth receiver no problem, so i am debating just leaving my old phone in the car as a dedicated media device, but would prefer to not have to do that.

Any thoughts, and or advise would be greatly appreciated.
