Android Central Question

So this is a bit difficult to explain but I will try

Long time iPhone user now I am a convert after issues with a repair and using a Galaxy S8.

Basically when my iPhone was connected to my car via bluetooth (Ford Sync 3) it would play calls over bluetooth auto switching the input, if I asked Siri a question it again would auto switch the cars inputs as so it came through my speakers and then switch back to my previous input, be that DAB or USB..

But android doesn't do this, any audio from the media volume requires me to manually switch to bluetooth input option on my audio inputs on the car.

So if I "OK Google" any answer is played fine but unless I have manually selected the AUX input for audio then I wont here the answer, the same from maps or anything.. is there any way of setting this up to work?

The iPhone just works with it,

That, unfortunately, is the way things are supposed to work. Your car's system has additional licensed software for iPhones, which makes it work different with Siri (more integrated, if you will). For Android phones, however, unless your phone supports Android Auto, you're relegated to simple Bluetooth connections (media/call/contacts), which does, indeed, require you to select the BT Audio input on your car to be able to use the phone.

The latter would be the same for an iPhone on a car system that doesn't support direct connections to Siri or iPhones (aka systems that aren't paying Apple for royalties to include said features).

I found this thread while I was looking for solution to the same issue .

The above answer sounds reasonable, but there should be a solution, since the phone and message from Android can successfully switch the car audio to Bluetooth. As I posted in the above link, my $60 Windows phone switched the car audio input without any problem. It shows something like a phone call from 555-xxxxxxx. Why can't Android play the media in the similar way through phone/message channel?
