Bluetooth Music Mutes After Each Song

Has anyone experienced this issue when streaming music on Bluetooth? After each song the volume is muted, at first I thought the music was paused but I saw it was still progressing with no sound. If I press pause and then play on either my phone or bluetooth speaker (Soundcast Melody) the sound resumes. Any ideas on how to correct this? I have no problems when connected with a cord in the headphone jack. It also happens primarily in Google Play Music, I have not been able to replicate it in Pandora or Songza.
