Bluetooth novice question

If my s8 plus has Bluetooth turned on does it cause Battery drain ? Reason I ask is because I noticed my battery drained much quicker since Oreo but few days ago updated for "Bluetooth improvement " and ive noticed Battery life improve again ??

It'll consume next to nothing if it's on but not connected to anything. It'll consume a little more if paired to a device but not anything significant. Modern Bluetooth ie 4 or 5 uses low energy technology.
Perhaps there was a bug in the software though that was causing it to drain battery and that's what was addressed in the update.
