Bluetooth printers?

Well, I have an answer to my own question ... and actually PRINTED an email from my X to my computer's printer using my local network and WIFI! Could have used Bluetooth or WIFI directly to printer, had my printer been WIFI or Bluetooth capable.

The app is Printershare, found in the Market. If you have Bluetooth or a WIFI capable printer, you only need the free download (can unlock for more features for $4.99). For me, I had to download a program for my desktop computer that connected my printer with the X app via my router/WIFI on X.

Hope this proves to be as functional as it seems!

Uh oh! Knew there had to be a glitch somewhere ...

You get 20 free printouts with the app; after that, it's $4.95 for each additional 100 pages... or a $9.95/month charge for unlimited use.

Always something!

Yes, and for that reason I just DropBox the doc from my phone and print off my laptop (or from any networked internet device). DropBox really is a lifesaver and cuts out the middle-man in these instances. Their catch? Have to pay if you want more than 2G of storage...

Two new things on this topic...

1 -- I'm not sure how this worked, but the (free) desktop part of the PrinterShare app that's needed for non-WIFI or non-Bluetooth printers has a very negative down side. Looks like your printers are placed on an international "available" list for anyone with the program to use. I had a list of printers in Sydney, Australia, among others. Watch out for this one!!! I've uninstalled everything and took the $5 loss for the X app.

2 -- Saw an ad on MNF for HP's new printers that are actually designed to work with smartphones!!! Like they were reading our minds????? Must find out more about this.

Can DropBox handle printing emails or text messages? Just wondering. Actually, the emails can be printed from my computer, so I guess text messages would be the only other item. I have Docs to Go, so I guess I could shift a word file to my computer to print out.

There is no native print element to Dropbox, I just find it the uber simple way to move anything from my phone to the computer (and vice versa).

Took some photos tonight using my X. Moved them on my X to Dropbox (simple - select photo, hit share, Dropbox is an option, just like email or MMs, etc.) Sixty secs. later it pops up on my computer and I just send it to print from the laptop. Also, this allows me to change any printing preferences, as needed.
