so my wife and I both have this problem on our devices. When trying to turn on Bluetooth, it will sometimes not enable it properly. it looks like it is going to turn on, but it won't compete the process until the device is rebooted. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a way to fix it without a reboot?

Running stock 4.2.2

It happened to me once. Hasn't happened again. I've gotten into the habit of restarting my phone first thing in the morning.

Happens to me once in a while. It's rare enough that I'm content to just reboot the phone.

I used to have problems with my phone not being to enable bluetooth. it'd switch to on then switch to off right away which would inhibit any nfc transfers. What i ended up doing was just leaving bluetooth on. I don't really notice a hit in battery at all and haven't had any problems with bluetooth since then.

There has been an ongoing problem with some users connecting properly to bluetooth. I am not sure if the issue has been resolved. For those who have the problem, bluetooth connectivity seems to be worse if you are trying to use wifi at the same time. Google Groups

I've been having this problem, too. About once a week, or if I'm lucky every other week, I go toggle on the phone's blue tooth, and it turns right back off a quarter second later. Have to reboot to fix it.

I was hoping the 4.2.2 jelly been update would fix it, since it's supposed to address some blue tooth issues, but it didn't help.

It happens to me on days when I cycle BT on and off a lot. I usually reboot my phone once a day so it's not a huge problem. If you have to reboot every time just to turn it on, I would consider that a problem/defect.

This happens to me fairly frequently on all of my 4.2.x devices (N4, N7, GNex). Reboot seems to be the only way to fix it. Annoying and I wish they would fix it, but not life changing by any means.

Has anyone contacted google about it? PHONE I called today since I only bought mine a month ago but they wanted to wipe and restore my device and I did not have everything backed up.

Happens to me a few times a week on my Nexus 4. Very frustrating indeed.

Had the same issue. Got it resolved by making sure installed apps don't switch off Bluetooth, other than settings app and toggle buttons. In my case an app called Sound Profile was creating the issue, which would try switching off Bluetooth on profile change, without checking the current state of Bluetooth
BlueVPN was another application which created issues for me

I use the Bluetooth with my Heart Rate Monitor and Sportstracker App. To avoid any problems pairing, I just reboot the N4 in the morning and no issues at all. If I don't do that, sometimes it will not pair, and the switch immediately goes to off when turned on. I have heard of other Android 4.2.2 phones having same problem.

Finally after so many attemps I've found the solution to solve this issue on my Razr 4.2.2 custom Buttered rom
In settings menu -> applications (all application list) there's one called "Bluetooth share". I've killed it and clear all data.

Bluetooth immediately starts to work again.
:D

I had this issue with 4.2.X, but 4.3 fixed things. It hasn't happened since the 4.3 update.

Reset app preferences in app manager before you do a factory reset after you tried bluetooth in safe mode & verify it worked.

Try to reset your network settings, wait a bit and then your Bluetooth should be able to turn on, just connect to your WiFi again and you are good to go.
