Bluetooth voice command

When I hold the button on my BT headset and it beeps for voice command, it doesn't actually prompt me until i hit the power button to take it out of sleep. That kind of defeats the purpose of hand free if I have to keep taking the phone out.
Anyone else have this problem and a solution?

SETTINGS --> LOCATION & SECURITY --> Allow Bluetooth bypass [X]

I stumbled across this the other day.

That works only intermitently for me. I still sometimes have to hit the multi function button on my BT 2 or 3 times for it to catch. BUT, it did enable it to work though.
