Blurry wallpapers problem

I have all my wallpapers on drop box so I can change them across my various PCs and devices. When I download a wallpaper that is hires (1680x1050) via the dropbox app and apply as wallpaper, most of the time they are extremely blurry, like its using a thumbnail instead of the actual pic. What's going on?

I dunno how much you already know, so apologies if this is already obvious to you, but you noticed that you have to select just a part of your pic to act as the wallpaper? It then blows this bit up to fill the screen, so you do lose some resolution.

Looking for a better answer on this. Just got TWO N7s and you can put same pic for wallpaper and one is beautifully clear and the other tablet is VERY blurry. So there has to be some resolution seeing or something. Can anyone help please?

Are the wallpapers in .bmp format?
