Bonsai v4.1.1 General Release now available

Well I thought I had it licked, but it locked up twice today, once while entering a phone number to make a call, and after the last battery pull I've now got an error that keeps popping up. It says:

"The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

Does anyone have an idea what this means and how to fix it?

Well if I guess I would say maybe you corrupted the data when you did the battery pull? Maybe thats what happened? (if you dont have journaling enabled)

You could try clearing the data, fixing permissions in recovery or a reflash?

Fixing permissions and clearing the cache doesn't help. Clearing data? How? And what is journaling and what are the pros and cons of using it? How would it have helped in this situation?

I sure hope they get this figured out because I like the ROM but so far it's been a lot of trouble because of these lockups. I'm obviously still learning. I didn't realize that owning a phone was going to become a hobby. :)

If you have already tried fixing permissions and clearing the cache/dalvik cache and it hasn't worked then you may have to clear data/factory reset in CWM. (Just like you would wipe before flashing a new ROM). That should resolve the issue.

Journaling on, it protects your device a bit more because it allows the system to write more often to the disk (memory) in the event of a freeze or lockup which with journaling off would cause data corruption.

I would recommend if interested trying the thread below.. Turning it on and off using this method is very easy.. Just flash in CWM and your done in a few sections... Just like flipping a light switch almost..

[MOD] ReEnable/Disable Journaling CWM Flashable No Format or Wipe Needed Instant

With Bonsai, you could also try re-flashing the ROM. It won't lose any data to do so, and you may end up without any issues.

I've been running this ROM for a couple of weeks, and only issue has been that occasionally I need to reboot in order to get SMS to send.

1st off like to give props to the Bonsai Team for creating this ROM. The only problems I've ran into is the text messaging hanging when I try to send, but this just started like two days ago...and I'm using Handcent. And another problem I've notice is the battery life seems to drain a lot quicker than the previous version. And I have a Seidio Innocell 3300mAh Extended Life Battery and by the middle of the day it's under half the battery life where the previous version might be a quarter of they way gone. Has anyone else noticed this?

I flashed Bonsai v4.1.1 a couple of days ago. I was coming from SRF 1.1.1 and wound up flashing Bonsai 3 times before I got past the Bonsai splash screen. Anyway, this ROM runs very fast and smooth. I am a bit puzzled by battery life as yesterday it seemed even better than with Baked Snack 2.3 but today it is not as good. One random freeze so far but I am running with journaling on so it was not a big deal. Anything to be gained by going back to EB13 and starting over with Bonsai.

Ed,

According to Randy & Mammon coming in fresh from Froyo EB13 to Bonsai is the best approach.

Thanks for the info above...I'll Odin back to EB13 and start fresh.

I did read that there are some freeze problems with Bonsai and they are working on a kernel update. In the mean time, has anyone tried the Baked Snack kernel with Bonsai 4.1.1?

My battery life has improved 10 fold...my only real complaint is that theres no clock in the notification bar...

I've read over the entire Bonsai website and I can't find a mention anywhere of what Android version their ROMs are based on. Shouldn't that be one of the first things you tell people? :D

i was able to download this and flash it to the phone pretty easily.i followed bonzai's instructions to not wipe data and after 2 flashes, it still would not boot past the buzzing epic 4g screen. wiped data, cache and dalvik cache 3x's each and put this on and it was smooth as a whistle. i did have some trouble initially once i downloaded all my system apps that i had backed up on titanium (overclock widget, reboot widget, fast reboot, cpu tuner, juice defender, zd box). I completely uninstalled all those and reinstalled cpu tuner, fast reboot and superbox (from amazon app store) and have not had any problems since. Battery life is improved dramatically and i have a live wallpaper on it. i have been running this rom for 24 hrs and my only nuance is that there is no clock in the notification bar as a member mentioned above. you have to pull it down to see it. minor for most but i had to download a clock widget cause i didn't wanna pull down my notification bar every time i wanted to check the time.I do love the ability to change the number of rows and columns for app space on each home screen!!! Having all of the apps on one page as well is very nice. i love the apps auto sorting in a-z order once downloaded as well and the reboot option when attempting to power down!

all in all im very pleased as this is my 1st rom and i have nothing to compare it to.

I like the ROM, only real thing that i've been running into is I keep getting a "application logs provider" force close loop that has caused me to wipe and re-flash my phone 4 times now. I'm now looking around for another, hopefully more stable ROM.

Edit: I'm trying something else with bonsai, and so far no problems :D.

First I would like to thank the Bonsai team for this incredibly fast and stable ROM. Since I can't leave well enough alone. I was wondering if anyone has tried flashing the EF02 modem? If so, is there any benefit in doing this?

I haven't tried it yet but you can flash and try any modem you want. They are not dependant on the ROM and can be swapped out at will.

Could someone upload the Bonsair Rom for me?

Bonsaigeek.com is not working for me, it keeps saying no connection.

Also I'm running EE03 Rooted with the EE03 Modem, can I just do the regular wipe 3 times and then flash Bonsai?

Looks like bonsaigeek is back up, but now when I try to flash the bonsair ROM, I get a "Status 7" error message. Any help is much appreciated.

Nevermind, I've got it too work. I read a post above showing that you can use any modem you'd like, but according to bonsaigeek, you have to be on EC05 or EB13.

BTW the Rom works great. Best ROM I've got my hands on so far!
