Boomsound speaker holes on M8?

Hi. Can someone tell me why those boomsound holes on M8 (half lenght of it) looks like they're filled with something, why they're not clean holes like on M9 as shown on the picture below?

Ah.... that's why... thanks. But they should still leave it like on M9.

All the ones on the left are speaker, the top row next to the speaker with 3 open (EDIT:are) is the mic, the rest are for show. As B. Diddy pointed out the speaker grill runs the length it does for aesthetics and the speaker is much smaller.
