AC Question

I just got an LG X Power through Boost Mobile. It has Marshmallow but when I put in my SD card from the old phone it didn't give me the option to format it as internal. Does anyone know if LG, or Boost themselves, has locked this feature out? I would think not as the ZTE Warp 7 can format as internal.

I have tried to format the SD card as internal but the phone suggests that I format the SD card as shared. It doesn't even give me the option to format it as internal.

Not guaranteed - ROM means "software"? No, it means a hardware chip, but it's used to mean software. Since cellphones became popular (in the late 1990s), words no longer mean what they say. Internal storage is storage that's located inside the phone. Adoptable storage is a kind of mashup of Android and SunOS - with the bad points of each. (SunOS recognizes "storage" - it doesn't matter what or where it is. A streaming tape drive and a hard disk are both storage. That would be nice in Android, but Google won't do it.)

BEFORE YOU TRY THIS, PLEASE READ MY DISCLAIMERS AND ESPECIALLY THOSE IN THE POST BELLOW! AND YOU WILL LOSE ANY OF THE CURRENT CONTENTS OF THE SD CARD, SO BACK IT UP IF IT HAS ANYTHING YOU FIND VALUABLE. I AM NOT AN EXPERT, JUST A GUY WHO USES SEARCH ENGINES.

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS VIOLATES LG'S OR BOOSTS WARRANTIES.

Per the article below, LG & Samsung have decided to remove the feature from their versions of Marshmellow for speed reasons (apps installed to the SD card will be slower to launch & run). And in the rare event of your SD card failing, you will need a backup of the contents of the SD card (have a backup that's NOT on the card). However, a search turned this up ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT FOR THE X power. However, it DID work for me, and the responsiveness isn't that much different. It also DOES NOT require root, but requires the ADB program on your computer:

Be careful and good luck. Note that almost everything from the time you add the code will install to the SD card, and that the card is less secure than the "real" internal memory. I also have "All-In-One Toolbox" installed, which has an option to move everything that can be moved over to the card, and moves apps over without root.

Hopefully they will change this in their next update. I already wrote them a review about the internal SD card option on their website so maybe they will hear us out and add the format SD card as internal storage. I can't believe they didn't especially on android marshmallow.

I have a portion of my 64gb SanDisk SD Card formatted as internal, it can't be done on the phone itself but I did it through 2 commands in an adb shell command window with my X Power connected to my computer, I have almost 60gb of internal storage now...
