Boot animation sound

I believe you need root access for that. Once rooted just delete /system/etc/poweron.wav

I did find somewhere that it can be disabled, but for the life of me cannot figure out where it was. It might have been in some useless task killer that I tossed the day I got it. :-\

If you go into settings, then sound settings, click on Volume, and if you turn the System Volume all the way down it turns the power on/off sounds off but also turns off the click for selecting items

Thanks BlkWolf03! I happened to find this setting shortly before you post, but yes, that DOES silence the boot animation sounds. :)

I recommend a volume widget. You can control all 7 volume types easily.

Wisgetsoid is what I use. It has some other great widgets (clock, auto rotate, auto brightness, flashlight, etc.).

Nice. Thanks. Do you know where the powerdown chime is? I'd like to get rid of that, too. Would have been logical to also have it in /system/etc, but it isn't.

I wouldn't mind a much more sedate, professional power on animation, if anyone knows how to change it.
