Boot Animations and Location

I just flashed a new ROM, but I don't like the boot animation, so I decided to change it to a different one that I flashed in CWMR. Now, the boot animation worked just fine, but now I'm kind of confused. I know there are two different locations where the boot animations go - data/local or system/media. The ROM's original animation was under system/media, but the new one I flashed went to data/local.

My question is do I have to delete the one in system/media or should I move the new one (in data/local) to the other location (system/media) or am I fine the way it is? Any help is appreciated!

If the new one plays now don't touch it. You can move it as it will look in one section first and if no boot will look in the second. If you have two different ones between the sections it will play the one in the first section it checks. I think data local comes first.

You can keep the one in /system/media if you want which is what I do. The one in data/local always plays first and if the phone does not find one there, it will play the one in media/system. I usually leave that one alone so I can always delete the one in local and go back to the default one.

Its pretty simple. Do a Google search for "Verizon galaxy nexus boot animations". Find one you like and download it(most will tell you whether or not it is a flashable zip). Then flash in recovery via TWRP or CWM. Good luck!! Oh and there is no need to wipe anything in recovery but it would be a great idea to have a nandroid to restore in case things don't go right.

1) Download file
2) Use a file explorer program to find file
3) Move file from ?download" to system/media
You will be promoted that the" bootaimation.zip" file exists, would you like to overwrite?
If you want to keep your current animation rename it by adding .bak to the end. If you don't care just move to folder and okay the overwrite.
4) Reboot and enjoy

This is how I have always done it and haven't had any issues.
