it all started when i installed some new launcher
my phone boots to the home screen, when i touch the lock icon, to slide it into the key, the phone reboots.
it only reboots when i touch the lock icon. i can access emergency call and notifications bar.
i tried reset by recovery, but when i open recovery, there isn't a reset option, just some phone tests i.e sim test, sd card test, gsensor test.
the other hard key combination leads to black screen with 'fastboot mode' written on it and that's it.
any help would be appreciated!

What launcher did you install and where/how did you obtain this launcher?

well i did some fastboot stuff to erase userdata and cache, using android sdk on windows
but i wiped out the stock rom and there isn't one for this phone on the internet.
is there some ROM which all gingerbread phones run?
btw it has 1 ghz processor and 256mb ram and 200 mb internal storage. i have a 2gb sd card

Erasing userdata and cache shouldn't have erased the system.
Unfortunately, it can sometimes be difficult to find the stock images for some of these lesser known brands. It might take a while, and might end up being completely fruitless, but you can try contacting the manufacture.

If you can get the boot image in img format, you're golden.

the first thing i did was contact the company via email. but no dice. i'm not in the same country right now from where i got this mobile
btw i used fastboot erase boot too.

since i can't find the exact stock ROM for this brand yet, isn't there some universal gingerbread 2.3.5 stock rom? the manufactureres obviously use a modified version of google's stock gingerbread 2.3.5

Unfortunately, there is not yet a generic Linux kernel for ARM devices. Even if/when it gets completed, you still will have to worry about the drivers for individual devices for things such as the radio/modem, graphics, and more.
TL;DR: No, there isn't a generic Android ROM to use, sorry :(

I'd be trying to call the company every day; screw email.
