Bootloop LG V20

Did you just joined AC forums today (03/31/17) to tell everyone you've gotten your V20 bootlooped, but have not shown us a video proof of it? I also don't believe it because there has been zero cases of any LG G5 or V20 boot looping.

If you are being truthful, first off, it could be the following reasons why it is happening:

- Exposed the device to water: phones with water damage will bootloop. There is a small white sticker on the battery and back of the device. If it shows a red XXXX symbol, then that means you exposed it to liquid. Did you expose it to water or any humid environment? (Sweat, steam room, bathroom, etc.) Show us a pic to verify.
- Turned off the phone or removed the battery during an OS update. Very common, not a real bootloop but corrupted OS. This is fixable. Did you turn it off during an OS update?
- Overheated: At very extreme temperatures, the phone will get damaged internally. Were you in or near a very hot environment?
- Magnetized: Magnets will damage electronics, usually very strong ones. Did you have magnets near it?
Y'all can look on YouTube for LG bootloops. The V20, V10, G5, G4, G3 have this issue. Its an known issue. And for the record, I have Android Central since July 2016.

The OS might be corrupted. Can you at least boot into recovery mode?

Wait while the shut down process is completed.
Then, press and hold (at the same time and for a few moments) the Volume Down and Power buttons.
When the LG Logo is displayed, release the Power Key but keep pressing the Volume Down button; while doing so press only once the Power button.
Release all the keys as soon as the recovery mode menu is displayed on your LG V20.
What am I suppose to do in recovery?

The G4 and V10 are the main devices that had bootlooping issues. If there are others, lets see the videos! Share some of these links you're taking about. Also, if the V20, G3, and G5 units had this issue, they would have been added to the class action lawsuit.

Even still, you've already told us that you don't have the bootloop issue. Random restarts are different.

Sorry, but the burden of proof is on you since you started this thread. Nothing you've indicated has shown there is really a bootloop problem on this device (oh, and one phone with bootloops means nothing)

Edit: Amazing how any video that does show a V20 bootlooping has no further comments from the poster (even if questions were asked). Also, something like this one (https://youtu.be/s7XHYeKTzww) isn't even a bootloop- it's a random reboot issue like yours that can be caused by all kinds of things. Bad apps, bad battery, corrupted files, etc.

There simply is no proof that these phones are bootlooping on a widespread basis like the G4 and V10 (just look how many more videos there are of those).

I think we are taking this matter out of proportion... Anyhow, from what we gather from OP he seems to be having random reboots, not bootloop to be correct.

@op if you have warranty then just replace your phone. Just because it is happening to your V20 it doesn't means you have to auto-generalize that all V20 have bootloop and suck. That's just bad critique. Sure, it might happen but it could be the same for every single phone out there even the iPhone.

Nevertheless, just evaluate your options and take action. If you have warranty just replace, if not then do a factory reset from the button combination while phone turn off. Or even more, do a firmware downgrade or restore to stock. There are forums that shows you how to do that.

I have two friends with G4s at work and no complaints. They had the phones since they were released. Of course that doesn't negate the fact that the G4 and V10 indeed suffers from the issue but I don't think it happens to every single device.

I had a G4 for a year with no issue, worked great. I now have a V20.

First one is not a bootloop. Second one is, though again no details. One or two issues doesn't indicate a major problem as you are implying. Again, if it was, it would be way more widespread than this, and it also would have been added to the class action lawsuit.

That said, I realize you have your own agenda here and don't care to listen to the rest of us. As such, I see no further reason to try discussing this as there really is no point.

Ok I think this has run its course. OP, you should have your device warranty replaced through your carrier or the manufacturer. Whether you have bootloop or random reboots, neither one was remedied by the methods you tried (which are all standard methods). For everyone else on this thread, please try to help out posters instead of trying to find a hidden agenda. Thank you. Thread closed.
