Botched Recovery

Hey guys.

I was having problems flashing the rom for 4.2.2. to my evo (my first thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-3d-rooting-roms-hacks/272148-4-2-2-rom-mac-users.html ) and I tried it again earlier today, assuming my original backup would work. Turns out it didn't. I did rename my backup using 4ext just before I tried to flash the 4.2.2. rom, but I don't think that is what's causing the problem. I just can't boot to my home screen now. I'm not caught in a bootloop like I was the first time I tried flashing the 4.2.2. rom which I think was caused by something to do with cwm. It just goes to the white HTC screen and stays there. I can still boot into 4ext recovery, I just need to know what to do now. I'd appreciate your help. I don't really want to flash to stock because I don't know if it will work, and I'm sure there's something else I could do but I just don't know what that is.

As a rule a back up from one recovery wont work on a different recovery. Flash back to your recovery that you made the back up on that shoild at least get you going. Are you s-off ? You need to be i think to use CM build

Thanks, Benny. I am not S-OFF, which is why CM didn't work. I didn't know that going into it, and when I tried to uninstall CM and ROM manager, I think it said something went wrong during the uninstall. However, I was flashing my original 4ext recovery that worked the first time I flashed it and it didn't work this time. That's my current problem. I just want to get back to what I had, and I don't know how.

Ok so I figured out what the problem was. When I renamed my backup, a space got in there somehow. I fixed it so the MD5 sums matched. But I still can't get my phone to boot, even though my backup was successfully restored. What could it be?

You can always download and flash another rom.
BTW in your PM what didnt i offer?
