Bottom 1/4 inch of my touchsceen won't respond.

I've been very happy with HydroROM on my TIng refurbished LG Optimus S for about 9 months now.

But after a battery swap yesterday, the bottom 1/4 inch of the touchscreen went completely dead.

That means I cannot get into settings, dial my phone, respond to email, send a text, etc. But everything else seems be in working order. Just as long as part of the touchscreen I need to press to get something to work is not along the very bottom row.

Any suggestions on what I could possibly do about this other than brick the phone? Are there any ROMs for this device the most important functionality on the top or the middle the touchscreen?

I'm a complete ***** about this stuff, although I was able to somehow get HydroROM working by using the instructions on this awesome forum.
