bottom of my touch screen is unresponsive

About 1 cm up from the bottom of my phone suddenly stopped working.. I have to turn my phone on its side to type which is a pain but bearable but theres certain apps I can't use because of it.. I have no idea how to fix phones so if someone can slowly and simply explain how to fix it please

It's often caused by a case magnet, if you use a case.
